LATHROP, San Joaquin County — November 4, 2026. Paul Akinjo was ahead of Minnie “Cotton” Diallo in Lathrop’s mayoral election after an overnight county results update. These are unofficial figures, not a certified outcome.

Mayor: counted vote at 1:11 a.m.

According to The Ballot Book’s timestamped county results log, Akinjo had 3,059 votes (60.1%) and Diallo 2,033 (39.9%), for 5,092 votes counted at 1:11 a.m. Pacific on November 4. The log records Akinjo leading earlier at 8:11 p.m., when he had 62.7% of the first batch.

City Council: a different ballot choice

Separately, Shelita Jefferson had 2,433 votes (31.4% of recorded candidate selections), Leandro Vicuña 2,074 (26.7%), Steve Dresser 1,904 (24.5%) and Daniel Macneilage 1,346 (17.4%) in the city council contest. Because the council ballot involves multiple candidates for available seats, those percentages are not equivalent to turnout or a single-person mayoral election.

Why the count remains open

County election workers continue reviewing remaining eligible ballots and conducting post-election checks. Local officials will determine certified winners after canvassing, not solely from one election-night table. Residents can follow the county Registrar of Voters for updates.
